Ved Ram awards for art and culture to be awarded April 21: The Tribune India

Satya Prakash Thakur, former minister and chairman of Bhuttico, one of Asia’s famous handloom cooperative societies, said on Friday that the annual Thakur Ved Ram International Awards 2021-22 to commemorate the 102nd birth anniversary of the founder of Bhuttico, would be held on April 21. The awards ceremony has not been able to take place for two years due to the Covid epidemic.

The president said the National Award Committee (NAC) has finalized the list of winners. The prizes would be awarded for special contributions in the fields of literature, art, language and culture, journalism, cooperative societies, crafts and the loom.

The former minister said that the national Thakur Ved Ram award for the cooperative sector would be awarded to VC Sehgal from Mandi, Sushil Kumar from Kangra and Tej Mohinder Singh, former director of NCDC. The national prize for the weaving sector would be awarded to Hiran Goswami from Assam, Kancheepuram Silk Cooperative Society from Tamil Nadu and Ses Ram from Bhuttico.

Thakur said the National Prize for Literature in memory of the late Dr. Vidya Chand Thakur would be awarded to Dr. Sushil Kumar of Palampur. “Anand Bodh, Deputy Editor of The Times of India, Shimla, will receive the Dr TDS Alok National Prize for Print Media. The Late Subhash Sharma National Award for Excellence in Electronic Media will be awarded to Alok Kumar, Program Manager, Doordarshan, Chandigarh”.

Satya Prakash said that Amar Dev from Darlaghat would be honored with National Purohit Chandershekhar Bebas Lok Sahitya award and National Chand Kullvi Lal Chand Prarthi Pahari Kala Sanskriti award would be given to Phoola Chandel from Bilaspur. Dev Singh Pokharia from Almora, Uttarakhand had been nominated for the National Thakur Molu Ram Jeevant Pahari Bhasha Aur Sanskriti Award. HAS retiree Mohar Singh Thakur from Sainj would receive the Life Time Achievement award.
