Lucknow: As India’s COVID-19 tally continues to rise, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared a video message with people in the state on Monday, highlighting the ongoing fight against COVID -19. Hailing available facilities such as free testing and health care, he urged people to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

“I appeal to all of you … those who have not taken the COVID-19 vaccine … should take it. Those who have already taken a dose should take their second dose on time,” he said. it stated in Hindi. Noting that a third preventive dose of the vaccine is now available for certain groups, he urged those eligible to benefit from it.

The CM had earlier said that 21 crore of doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered in the state until Monday.

In a series of posts on Twitter, on his official account, Adityanath shared separate messages for public representatives of all local bodies and the heads of all Gram Panchayats in the UP. In these posts, too, he stressed the need for vaccination, calling on officials to ensure that everyone is vaccinated in the region under their jurisdiction.

In recent days, all states have seen a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases. While a significant majority of those newly infected are asymptomatic, preparations are underway to ensure that the country’s health infrastructure is not overwhelmed by the tide. On Monday morning, CM Adityanath said there were 33,900 active cases of COVID-19 in the state, 90% of which were asymptomatic.

“The new variant of COVID-19, Omicron, spreads quickly, but it is also less virulent. If a patient is infected with COVID-19, then within 3-4 days the patient will recover from the infection,” ANI news agency quoted him after inspecting the COVID Integrated Control Center in Lucknow.
