Bharat Gaurav Trains: Get an insight into Indian culture and heritage like never before as Indian Railways is set to introduce several Bharat Gaurav trains soon. After the freight and passenger segments, the national carrier is preparing to launch a third segment dedicated to the country’s tourism sector as well as to launch a set of around 190 thematic trains called Bharat Gaurav trains on the railway network of Indian railways, Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Tuesday. Addressing a press conference, the Union Minister said that these Bharat Gaurav train services could be managed by both the private sector as well as the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), according to a report from the PTI.

Vaishnaw, at the press conference, said that these are not regular trains that will run on schedule. Indian Railways has identified up to 3,033 cars or 190 trains in total for these theme trains. After the passenger and freight segments, the national carrier will now start the tourism segment to operate Bharat Gaurav rail services, the minister said at the press conference. These Bharat Gaurav train services will showcase the culture and heritage of our country. As of today, Indian Railways has called for applications, added the Minister of Railways.

The Minister of Railways also said that the idea to run Bharat Gaurav trains came from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who recommended thematic rail services so that Indians can understand, appreciate and promote the heritage of the country. The tariff for these Bharat Gaurav train services would be practically decided by the tour operators, however, Indian Railways will ensure that there are no anomalies in the price of tickets for these trains. So far, some state governments, including the governments of Rajasthan, Odisha, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, have shown interest in these Bharat Gaurav trains, the Minister of Railways added.
