Three Bags of Andhra Pradesh Padma Shri for Literature, Art and Medicine | Visakhapatnam News

VISAKHAPATNAM: Three people from Andhra Pradesh have been shortlisted for the Padma Shri award this year. The Union Government announced the Padma Awards-2022 on Tuesday on the eve of Republic Day.
While Narasimha Rao Garikapati, famous Telugu Avadhani and lecturer, was shortlisted in the “literature and education” category, the prize was awarded posthumously to Gosaveedu Shaik Hassan in the “art” category. Renowned orthopedic surgeon from Visakhapatnam, Dr. Sunkara Venkata Adinarayana Rao received the award in the medicine category.
Narasimha Rao has become a household name over the past seven years in Telugu states with his religious and personality development talks, based on Hindu epics and way of life, on various TV channels. He has received several awards for his avadhanams and literary skills and is considered paramount in the ‘Avadhanam’ sphere.
Gosaveedu Shaik Hassan is a famous nadaswaram artist. Born in 1928, he has performed in almost every famous temple in two Telugu states. He participated in the liberation movement.
Dr. Adinarayana Rao has served thousands of polio patients. Born in Bhimavaram of West Godavari, Rao completed his MBBS as well as PG from Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam. He had previously received awards for his medical services, including one from the prime minister and one from the president. He is currently Managing Director of the Free Polio Surgical & Research Foundation and CEO of the Prema Group of Hospitals and Institutions. His wife R Sashiprabha is a renowned doctor and has held various positions.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has congratulated the Telugu people who have been shortlisted for the Padma Awards.
