Potato tissue culture lab to start soon in Gwalior

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The potato tissue culture laboratory will soon be launched in Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh. The tripartite agreement of Agri Innovate, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Department of Horticulture for the same will be concluded in the first week of May, according to state government officials.

Minister of State for Horticulture, Food Processing (Independent Charge) and Development of Narmada Valley, Bharat Singh Kushwaha reviewed the progress of the Potato Tissue Culture Laboratory, Gwalior . He said it would start soon. An aeroponics laboratory will be installed in Gwalior.

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is an autonomous body responsible for coordinating agricultural education and research in India.

The Minister said that APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Export Development Authority) will help promote horticultural crops. The production of horticultural products will increase exports.

The minister also ordered to launch a gardener training program from next month to connect trained farmers to the production of horticultural crops and to connect unemployed youth to self-employment.

In addition, the Minister also reviewed the progress of other programs including MIDH, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana and Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana.
