Governor, chief minister clash over vested interests: incumbent KPCC chairman

The standoff between the governor and chief minister is not part of an effort to protect higher education in the state, but part of a move to protect vested interests, the president said in Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) exercise, T. Siddique, MLA.

Opening a Collectorate march organized by the District Congress Committee (DCC) here on Thursday, Mr Siddique said the people of Kerala were looking down on the confrontation between the governor and the chief minister with disdain.

“The Chief Minister, Governor and Ministers jointly appointed the Vice Chancellors of Kerala Universities. The court says it’s illegal. When the governor tries to break the deadlock, the chief minister tries to block it. CPI(M) workers and criminal gangs control law and order in Kerala,” he alleged, adding that the government was turning the state into an insane asylum.

DCC President VS Joy presided over the ceremony. Aryadan Shoukath, Alipatta Jameela, E. Mohammed Kunhi, PT Ajaymohan, VA Kareem, KP Abdul Majeed, V. Baburaj, Fatima Roshna, PP Hamza and TK Sasindran spoke.
