Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed his best wishes to the people of Nagaland on the occasion of their accession to statehood and said he was making a rich contribution to the country’s growth.

Nagaland, a northeastern border state, is a diverse region and home to many tribes. It became a state on December 1, 1963.

“On the special occasion of Nagaland State Day, greetings to the wonderful people of the state. Naga culture personifies bravery and human values,” Modi said in a tweet.

“The people of Nagaland are making a rich contribution to the growth of India. I pray for the progress of Nagaland in the years to come,” he added.
