Lebanese Prime Minister calls on the UN and donor countries to increase their investments
Beirut, April 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Thursday called on the UN and donor countries to increase their investments in Lebanon in the context of the current serious crisis.
“I call on the United Nations, donor countries and local partners to stimulate investments in the areas of development of Lebanon, in particular in health, education and social coverage which constitute a line of defense for the development of society and the community,” he said, according to the statement from the Council of Ministers.
The prime minister made the remarks during the launching ceremony of the United Nations Strategic Framework (UNSF) in Lebanon for 2022-2025, Xinhua news agency reported.
Mikati praised the transparent partnership between Lebanon and the UN family while stressing the importance of the strategy at a time when Lebanon is going through multiple crises.
For her part, the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Lebanon, Najat Rochdi, noted that the priority of the United Nations was to help the government put the country on the road to recovery by tackling problems such as corruption and the economic crisis.
