RAJANNA-SIRCILLA: The Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD), KT Rama Rao, affirmed that Telangana has become a prosperous and model state after its formation under the TRS government. Inspired by the development and transformation he has achieved, the whole country was looking towards Telangana, he said.

Attending the Integration Day celebrations in Sircilla on Saturday, Rama Rao said the Telangana government had made an impossible task possible by constructing the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project. Addressing the rally after raising the national flag, he said Sircilla was at the forefront of development and social welfare programmes.

“On September 17, 1948, Hyderabad merged into the Union of India and made rapid progress towards democracy from the reign of anarchy. We never forget the sacrifices of martyrs such as Kumuram Bheem and Doddi Komuraiah for their struggle against the repressive Nizam regime.Telangana had remained separate from 1948 to 1956 before its forced merger with Andhra Pradesh in the name of reorganizing the states. To achieve a separate state for Telangana, K Chandrashekar Rao united the people and fought a 14-year struggle,” he said.

Within a short time after the formation of a separate state, Telagana became a bowl of rice and achieved miraculous developments in medical and health care. All this became possible thanks to the peace and tranquility of the state. But some elements, out of selfish interests, were trying to divide society along community lines and destroy everything that had been carefully built over a period of time, he said, and warned people to guard against such strengths.

Later, the minister along with Vemulawada MP Ch Ramesh Babu and collector Anuraag Jayanti commended the Telangana fighters who fought against the Razakars and distributed sewing machines to 25 women.
