How the people who sacrificed the most for independence can be anti-national: Arshad Madani

New Delhi: Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind chairman Maulana Arshad Madani said people who “sacrificed themselves the most for the independence of the country” can be anti-national.

“India’s liberation movement was started by the ulema and the Muslims; and the first flag of rebellion against the British in India was raised by the Ulama,” he said at an event.

“People who first gave the slogan of freedom, today the same people are called traitors. Muslims are thus represented throughout the country today. How can someone whose elders have given them freedom be a traitor,” he claimed.

“Our elders from the Hindu and Muslim communities went forward on the path of unity and liberated the country from the slavery of the British, but unfortunately partition also took place. This partition became a cause of destruction and ruin, not only for a particular community, but for Hindus and Muslims,” Madani added.

Speaking on the China issue, he said: “If partition had not happened and these three countries (India, Pakistan and Bangladesh) would have been together, then today it would not have been the situation where China is infiltrating inside India and the government is silent about it”
