Giannis Antetokounmpo on the next two countries he would like to play in pre-season: “I’ve never played in China, maybe Shanghai or Beijing. It would be a fun experience. Maybe somewhere in India. ..”
Giannis Antetokounmpo says China and India are the two countries where he would like to play next, after taking part in the NBA Abu Dhabi Games 2022.
Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks head to the Middle East this week as the NBA continues to go global. After the Golden State Warriors and Washington Wizards played two preseason games in Japan last week, the Bucks took on the Atlanta Hawks in Abu Dhabi, the NBA venturing into the country for the first time.
The Hawks won both games, with Trae Young putting on a spectacular performance in the second, as he dropped 31 points in the first half. It was a memorable experience for the fans, who got to see some of the league’s biggest stars in action.

Giannis also had a great experience, but he left his fans a bit disappointed after opting out of Game 2. Still, they got to see him in action in the first one and Antetokounmpo is looking forward to playing in more countries in the future. Asked about the next two regions where he would like to play, Giannis mentioned China and India.
“I played in London, I played in Paris, I’m playing today for the first time in Abu Dhabi, I have to think about it. I’ve never played in China, maybe Shanghai or Beijing It would be a fun experience Maybe somewhere in India to try to expand the game as much as possible, make it global and reach places we haven’t reached yet. that a lot of people around the world love basketball. We just have to introduce it to them and we’ll create more fans that way.
China has had ties with the NBA for a very long time at this point, although the relationship soured after Daryl Morey’s comments a few years ago. India has also seen action from the NBA, with two pre-season games in 2019, and the league is planning a return to the country at some point, so maybe Giannis will get a chance to play there. Giannis also has ties to India, as he was recently learning a Bollywood dance from Indian actor Ranveer Singh.
The NBA has done a much better job of going global than the other major professional sports leagues in the country, and it continues to reap the benefits. The league also heads to France for a regular season game for the first time this season, as the Chicago Bulls take on the Detroit Pistons on January 19.
