Chandigarh gets best UT award, culture honors : The Tribune India

Chandigarh, April 18

CEO, Chandigarh Smart City Ltd, Anindita Mitra has received Best UT Award for Chandigarh in India Smart Cities Award Contest (ISAC), 2020 from Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, at a reception in Surat today.

The Best UT award was given based on its performance in the “India Cycles4Change Challenge, Climate Smart Cities Challenge, Streets4People Challenge, TULIP and Data Smart Cities”. The ISAC was organized under the Smart Cities Mission, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, for the period August 25 to February 24.

This was one of the important activities initiated under the mission, where pioneering city strategies, projects and ideas were recognized based on innovation, impact and replicability/scalability .

ISAC recognizes and rewards cities for innovative projects and ideas that promote sustainable development in urban areas.

The categories were “Project Award, City Leadership Award, Best State/UT Award, Innovation Award, Covid Innovation Award, and City Award.” Chandigarh entered the competition and won the prize in the culture category for its Capitol Complex project, which had been declared a heritage site by UNESCO.

‘Superhero Award’

Rupesh Kumar, Additional Curator, MC, received the ‘Superhero Award’ in the ‘City Leaders’ category of the Freedom2Walk and Cycle event as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. —
