Assam CM Himanta Sarma berates DC Nagaon for traffic jam; “Unacceptable VIP culture”
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday January 15 lashed out at officials who blocked the road on his arrival near Gumothagaon on National Highway 37. The Chief Minister said that he was not king to get special treatment by creating inconveniences for the common man. . Himanta Biswa was in the area to lay the first stone of a road.

Speaking about the incident, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “I reprimanded the concerned officials for stopping traffic for me, despite the clear order not to cause inconvenience to people during of my visit. For more than 15 minutes NH was blocked including ambulances. This VIP culture is not acceptable in today’s Assam”.
Assam CM on Lovlina’s enthronement as part of IPS
Earlier on January 12, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked the police department and claimed Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain will bring glory to the state. His statement came after the champion boxer was enlisted as a Trainee Deputy Superintendent (DySP) in Assam Police. During the award ceremony, the Chief Minister expressed his confidence in Lovlina’s induction into the Indian Police Service (IPS) in due course.
Speaking at the event, Sarma had said: “We recommend the brightest APS officers for the IPS cadre. She (Lovlina) will automatically qualify for this, provided she gets her degree in the meantime.
The Chief Minister of Assam mentioned that the Olympic medalist will get additional Rs 1 lakh per month for her training expenses and added that the state government is likely to recruit an international level coach for her in Guwahati .
