5 Lakh People Get Houses as Prime Minister Narendra Modi Inaugurates 5.21 Lakh Houses Under PM Scheme
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated 5.21 lakh Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY)-Gramin beneficiary houses in Madhya Pradesh while attending ‘Grah Pravesham’ (housewarming party), a handover ceremony new homes to their owners.
Speaking to the program via video conference, Prime Minister Modi said his government had given the highest priority to providing houses for the poor.
So far, 2.5 crores of houses have been built under the PM Awas Yojna program in the country, including two crores in rural areas, Prime Minister Modi said.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan attended the program from Chattarpur in the state.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Modi also said that under the ‘Nal-Jal’ program in the country, six million families received pure water tap connections in their homes.
In addition, more than four crores of fake ration cards have been canceled since 2014 by the country’s current government to prevent the theft of food grains worth crores meant for the poor, the prime minister said.
“We have a policy to ensure that even the last man in line benefits from government programs,” he said.
PM Modi also called on people to make a vow to build 75′Amrit Sarovar‘ (ponds) in every district across the country over the next 12 months as the nation celebrates 75 years of independence.
