Chris
Brown's 'Up Close & Personal'
Tour!
Review & Photos by Lady Cham
The Chris
Brown 'UP CLOSE & PERSONAL TOUR' hit
Hampton Roads, VA by storm at the end of
2007!! I, Lady Cham, have not seen
so many excited, near fainting, school
aged girls carry on in such a frenzy
since I went to a Boy George concert in
Leeds, England in the early 80's!!!
It was an
awesome concert, the opening acts
were Hurricane Chris, The Shop
Boyz & Soulja Boy and the whole crowd
got hype. Everyone knew each and
every line to their songs and of course
everyone did the moves to 'Shoot Out/Let
Me Get Em' and 'Crank Dat Soulja Boy!'
My three teenage girls had me doing the
Souljah Boy moves (a little more
difficult than my usual Rock Steady
moves!)
After
the opening acts an airplane descended
to the top of the building and out came
'Bow Wow' who had the girls hearts
fluttering with his favorites including
'Girlfriend' which made all the girls he
stared at feel like his girlfriend!
He had another rapper on stage with him
and they did a combination routine that
the crowd loved.
When
Chris, who is a native of Tappanhannock,
VA, dropped - commando style - from a
parachute to the stage, I thought I was
going to go deaf from the piercing
screams emanating from the crowd!
Chris was home and let all his fans know
it! While he sang "Yo, Excuse Me
Miss" security had to hold back the
ladies from rushing the stage!
The
concert was well executed with Chris
Brown's DJ coordinating the music like
the pro he is! I was amazed at the
skills DJ Baby Drew showed as he
directed the way the concert flowed; and
he did it with fine tuned precision. I
was quite proud of the fact that he is a
Jamaican and had all of these
hip-hoppers moving to his flow! Chris
Brown was amazing but without a great DJ
it would not have come off so smoothly.
Chris
Brown did a virtual duet with Bajan
singer Rhianna's 'Umbrella' and the
pyrotechnic effects were awesome!
Showers of sparkling flames shot
everywhere, he had the special effects
all the way through the show.
Chris
Brown and he also did not forget
any of his dancers, they were
individually introduced to the audience
on the big screen and then individually
the came on stage and did a 30 second
dance piece. I thought this was a
great touch.
Towards
the end of the show, both Bow Wow and
Chris Brown teamed up on stage and the
chemistry was tight, they really worked
well together and had the girls feeling
faint again. Chris even did a few
acrobatic stunts that were remarkable
and left everyone with open mouths.
It was a great concert that left you
wanting more, I enjoyed these truly
talented artists just as much as the
young ladies!
