 On
Friday, June 1st King Walker of Lion Heart Promotions
presented Capelton’s ‘King Of Fire Tour’. Whilst the
crowd poured into the venue, they enjoyed early juggling
by Valley Man Sound with selector Natty Jeff. Also Soca
SoulJah’s and Crazy Love Sound were in attendance so you
know there was nuff niceness before the show began.
The
show started at 11pm with Futuristic, an artiste from
Montego Bay, Jamaica who is based in Virginia.
Futuristic held the crowd’s attention with his quick
style and comedic antics. He sang tracks on the latest
and nicest riddims spun by his DJ, Jerome, and he had
the crowd dancing with him. A few times he had to slow
down and decipher what he was saying for the Americans
in the audience which he did with humor and this was
appreciated by the audience. Futuristic also sang a
special he had made for Lady Cham off one of his tracks
called ‘Vibes’ and this too went over well. Futuristic
made a lady blush by serenading her with his lyrics as
he sang ‘Love Di Girls’, ‘My Time Is Now’,
‘Supernatural’ and a host of other songs. This was not
Futuristic’s first time performing at The Norva but it
most certainly was his best performance so far, if he
continues to pour his energies into his music he will
definitely go far.
After
Futuristic exited the stage the Prophecy Band entered
and Moses I performed a heated set. He sang about
freeing the people from sufferation and a great track
called ‘Teach Dem’ and the patrons level of appreciation
soared as he performed.
After
Moses I came Prince Pankhi singing ‘I Jamaica Girl’ and
‘Pressure’. Prince Pankhi blazed through the two songs
and left the crowd wanting more!!!
The
last opening act was Jah Thunder who yelled out ‘more
fire’ as he came out and he also gave a great
performance. Jah Thunder is a very talented artist who
held the patrons in the palm of his hands as he worked
the stage.
Next
up was the man of the hour; Capelton! There was a sea of
lighters in the air upon his entrance, he began to sing
before he hit the stage which really made the crowd grow
more anxious to see him. He came out and all the ladies
screamed. He was dancing back and forth and touching the
hands of fans. All eyes were on Capelton as he ran
around the stage. He performed Fire Time, Jah Jah City,
In Her Heart and a slew of other tracks. The people were
jumping up and down as he sang.
The
patrons full of energy and excitement as Capelton ran
and jumped up high into the air. Though he was burning
everything around him, this show was different to his
other shows, he didn’t just touch on each track, he sang
whole songs and even serenaded the ladies with a few
love songs. He was a teacher who should patience, yet he
still managed
to
blaze a trail wherever he went. The Fireman brought the
temperature of The Norva to a blazing flame and as the
patrons exited the building, Capelton was backstage
still with the MIC singing and teaching. The show ended
around 2 am and the show had been a huge success. West
Indian Times also had the opportunity to speak to
Capelton’s Management Ms. Kemp which was most certainly
a pleasure.
